A meeting with Adam Robiński, the author of the book “Kiczery. A journey through the Bieszczady Mountains ”. The evening was hosted by Natalia Soszyńska, an experienced copywriter. The conversation took place in a larger group because many readers came to this meeting.
During the meeting, the author invited us for a journey through the Bieszczady meadows and depopulated villages of the Polish, Slovak and Ukrainian border. It was not only an account of a trip, which had no other purpose than being on the road, but also a contemporary look at the Bieszczady Mountains and looking for answers - are they in fact the kind to which we are accustomed by repeated stereotypes?
The author calls himself a citizen of a housing estate from a big city and has the courage to write about the Bieszczady Mountains. He claims that this is not a book about a journey through the endless meadows, although there will also be encounters with bears or wolves, but most of all "Kiczery" is a journey through the unknown Bieszczady, located far from tourist routes, but full of extraordinary human fates.
Adam Robiński, the author of the beautiful book "Hajstra", traveled the Bieszczady mainly on foot. He looked at the Ukrainian and Slovak websites, but most of all he wanted to learn something about the people who live there. Because they actually wrote the history of this region, he tries to explain how the myth of the Bieszczady was created, where some wanted to leave, dropping everything, while others could not get out of them, because they had nowhere to go.
The author's meeting with our readers may be considered successful, and the full room assured us that what the author is doing is necessary. Kiczera's book defends itself, and when asked how he would label his book himself, he answered very evasively.
For lovers of the Bieszczady Mountains, "Kiczery" should become a must-read. For those who have never found a meadow before, the best incentive to fix this mistake.
