About the Library

For the love of books

The beginnings of the Luzino Library's activity date back to 1936, when the institution was established as a result of the merger of the book collections of the Insurgents and Wojaków Society and the Catholic Youth Association. The modest book collections of TPiW and KSM were supplemented by the inhabitants of Luzin. By 1939, 400 volumes had been collected in the library.

When the war broke out, Feliks Dampz risked his life to hide the library collection, moving it to Jan Jankowski's house occupied by the Germans, to the auditorium under the stage. Then, together with Józef Grabowski, they placed the books under the vault of the Catholic church.

Currently, the book collection amounts to over 40,000 volumes and is constantly growing.
